New awning system for lake-view terrace

Conference and seminar location in Switzerland freshened up its outdoor terrace with some expansive sun protection from markilux

The Hotel and Restaurant Lilienberg is located in Ermatingen on Lake Constance, in the Swiss canton of Thurgau. Last spring, markilux was commissioned to design the idyllic outdoor terrace of the restaurant with a bespoke awning system.

The Hotel and Restaurant Lilienberg is situated in the middle of the Swiss village of Ermatingen, just a few kilometres from the city of Constance. It is on the shores of Untersee, the smaller part of Lake Constance, nestled in a park-like garden. The hotel is a conference and seminar location and offers an idyllic view of the lake and the island of Reichenau from its outdoor terrace. For some time now, guests have been able to enjoy this under a new awning system from markilux.

“The Lilienberg Hotel is one of our really attractive reference projects with the awnings blending harmoniously with the building complex. Previously, different parasols shaded the outdoor area of the restaurant,” says Peer Cornelssen. A combination of the “syncra fix” and “markilux 6000” models now provide generous and, above all, uniform protection from the sun for the entire area, which measures almost 100 square metres. And the system is extremely flexible in use. For example, the folding-arm awnings attached to the free-standing frame system of the “syncra model” can each be retracted and extended individually. The client, who was looking for a high-quality shading system, was very quickly convinced of the merits of the products. According to Cornelssen, the system with its motorised technology is significantly more convenient than the previous sun protection and, with its light-coloured awning fabric, creates a friendly and bright atmosphere. This makes the lake view even more attractive for guests, which also benefits the hotel’s events. 1,987 characters
