markilux specials Semi-transparent, heat-reflecting, permeable, highly water-resistant and flame-retardant awning covers extend the range of the overall markilux collection,
transolair Solar protection with a view.
This sunvas fabric with special perforation technique stands for impressive transparency as well as good light and air permeability.
We recommend transolair be used for the markilux shadeplus, side screens as well as vertical roller blinds and glass canopy awnings.
This perforated fabric maintains visual contact with the outdoors and shields against prying eyes at the same time.It ensures good air circulation between the cover and the glass, This effectively reduces the build-up of a heat cushion between fabric and glass. The creation of water troughs is minimised.
perfotex Ideal for conservatories.
Gaps in the warp, woven into the fabric, make the material permeable to both air and water. The risk of the formation of water troughs in rain showers and the build-up of excessive heat between cover and glass is reduced. The aluminium coating* applied to the series 332 .. reduces solar gain as well The weather fast finish also inhibits the accumulation of dirt and offers excellent water repellency.
perla FR Protects perfectly against both sun and rain
This highly flame-retardant and waterproof (for purpose) fabric with a transparent coating on the underside should be used wherever special fire safety regulations are to be observed and where protection from both rain and sun as well as a decorative effect are required.

Cleaning an awning – care instructions for your markilux awning
At the latest, your shade giver will be exposed to changing weather conditions as soon as it is extended, regardless of whether you have an open style awning or a cassette awning. Soiling is quite simply unavoidable. We are pleased to be providing you with a few tips here on how to clean your markilux awning when necessary.
So that you can reap long and lasting enjoyment from your awning cover, here are a few tips regarding its treatment and care:
Dust and dirt can best be removed when dry using a soft brush.
Remove leaves, twigs and similar debris immediately.
Small marks or stains should be removed using water and a commercially available, preferably liquid, mild detergent (5% soap solution: water temperature max. 30 degrees Celsius) – then rinse thoroughly with water
Detailed instructions for the cleaning and care of blind and awning covers can be found in the guidelines of the Industrial Association for Technical Textiles, Shutters, Solar Shading e.V. (ITRS).
"sunsilk snc" is a high-quality awning fabric with a self-cleaning effect. This means that the dust particles on the surface of the fabric are absorbed by water droplets (for example during rain or wet cleaning) and run off with them when the awning is at a certain angle of inclination (min. 14 degrees).
You can wash off heavy soiling using a hose (not high pressure). To do so, clean the cover on both sides and leave the awning out to dry.
If necessary, clean using a sponge or soft brush with a small amount of mild detergent and warm water with a maximum temperature of 30 degrees Celsius. Please do not scrub otherwise the surface could be roughened or even damaged. Then rinse the awning fabric several times with fresh water and allow it to dry.
markilux awning fabrics are mainly available with what is called the nano effect. This concerns the quality fabrics "sunsilk", "sunvas" and "transolair".
The easiest way to understand how this effect works is to imagine that there are microscopically small hairs or spikes covering the surface of the cover. These prevent, for example, rainwater or dirt being in direct contact with the surface of the awning cover. Because the hairs have a minutely small surface area at their tips, everything is suspended above the actual surface of the material. This demonstrates how rain can clean dirt off an awning.
markilux solar protection fabrics are impregnated with a water-repellent finish and, if properly cared for and used at a pitch of at least 14°, remain impervious to water during short, light rainfall.
In the case of covers with an "snc" coating, we recommend that the awning be left out in light rain to initiate the self-cleaning effect. During prolonged and/or heavy rainfall, retract your awning or keep it closed to prevent damage.
Over time, dust and other dirt particles inevitably settle on the awning cover – a rich breeding ground for fungi (patchy marking) and/or moss. For this reason, the awning cover should never remain retracted when damp for a long period. It is best to extend the awning again as soon as possible so that it can dry.
In most cases an active tensioning system keeps the awning cover almost permanently taut. Although seams and hems provide reinforcement, they also have to withstand considerable strain. When the fabric is being rolled up, the seams and hems lie on top of one another which increases the pressure and tension even more. They are therefore exposed to considerable tension and this can cause them to stretch. As a consequence, the side hems may sag slightly during extension and retraction of the the awning.

Awning covers are industrially manufactured textile products which serve both a functional and a decorative purpose. They are high-tech products that meet strict technical performance criteria.
In each production cycle, the markilux awning fabrics undergo extensive laboratory tests. Criteria such as water impermeability, stiffness, dirt and water-repellent properties, resistance to tearing and tear propagation, colour fastness and numerous other characteristics are defined, assessed and guaranteed for each fabric type by the manufacturer.
Although only first-class, quality controlled fabric is used to produce awning covers, there are limits to the degree of perfection that can be achieved. Awning owners sometimes complain about certain aspects of the cover which cannot be completely excluded, in spite of the extremely high technical standards that can be achieved today.
Creases can appear during manufacture and if the cover has been folded. A dark line may become visible at the crease when viewed against the light, especially in the case of lighter colours. This is because the fibres have become kinked when the fabric was folded (altered light refraction).
Puckering at the panel joints and in the centre of the panels can appear along the side hems, near the panel joints and in the centre of the awning cover. There is a double layer of awning fabric at the panel joints. Consequently, as the cover is wound onto the roller the two layers of fabric are forced to assume different diameters thus creating tension within the fabric. The tension of the folding arms and the weight of the roller tube and/or front profile can exacerbate this effect. Puckering can also develop if a "water trough” forms during heavy rainfall.
Small imperfections in awning covers cannot be avoided for production reasons. These imperfections could be:
Uneven yarn thicknesses
The occasional broken yarn
Waviness and uneven rolling-up characteristics at the hems and/or panel joints
Signs of fabric stretch at the hems
Moreover, creases caused during the manufacturing process which manifest themselves as dark lines when seen against the light are unavoidable.
The cover's inherent weight may mean that it sags to a certain extent. This will be exacerbated when the cover is wet.
These phenomena will not affect the life and running characteristics of your markilux awning. In this respect we refer to the guidelines of the Industrial Association for Technical Textiles, Shutters, Solar Shading e.V. (ITRS) with regard to the product characteristics of made-up blind and awning covers.
