Change in management at markilux and Schmitz-Werke

markilux and Schmitz-Werke initiate a generational change in leadership, establishing a strong foundation for a bright future.

Made in Germany, markilux is one of the leading premium manufacturers of solar protection solutions. For decades the company has developed and produced the highest quality awnings and textile shading systems for both residential and commercial applications. Since 1 November 2025, the company has undergone a gradual transition of management. After more than twenty years of successfully leading markilux, Mr Klaus Wuchner, Managing Director Sales & Marketing, will retire on 31 January 2026. Under his leadership, the company has developed into one of the best-known brands in the industry, being both an important employer and trusted partner.

On the 1st November 2025, Mr Ivo Scherkamp joined the management of Schmitz-Werke GmbH + Co KG. As both a shareholder and family member, he will manage Schmitz-Werke together with the existing Managing Director, Mr Torsten Honemann. Ivo Scherkamp (40) brings many years of management experience gained in various roles within international business, whilst at the same time standing for continuity and the traditional values of the family business.

On 1 February 2026, Mr Scherkamp will also take over the management of markilux GmbH + Co KG alongside Mr Michael Gerling, the Managing Director of Technology & Production. "I am very pleased to be taking on responsibility in a family business with a long tradition. markilux has stood for quality, reliability and innovation for decades. Values that we bring to life every day, together with our regional specialist dealers. My aim is to further develop this strong foundation and to lead our successful, partnership-based cooperation into the future," says the future Managing Director, emphasising his strategic direction.

With the planned change in management, Schmitz-Werke/markilux is sending a clear signal of continuity and future security. The transition will take place gradually and in close coordination with the existing management team, Mr Torsten Honemann as Managing Director for Schmitz-Werke, and for markilux with Mr Michael Gerling as Managing Director Technology & Production. The combination of many years of experience and fresh impetus forms the basis for sustainable further development. In this way, the group of companies remains committed to its values and roots, while at the same time utilising opportunities to actively shape innovation and progress.
