Technical overview: Motors and remote controls for electric awnings

Most markilux awnings are equipped with a gear unit including a crank as standard. Optionally, you can also order many of our awning models with a servo gear or a motor drive. With these electric awnings, the stainless steel hand crank is only used as an emergency hand crank (on selected models) - the awning is controlled in normal operation by pressing a button.

For an awning with a motor you don't need more than one power connection outside. You can control electric awnings via a switch in the interior, via radio remote control or via an app. The markilux control options at a glance:

The markilux radio remote controls for awnings with input-output (io for short) are available in the following versions:

  • The sensitive wallset Smoove io Pure shine (1channel) The sensitive wallset Smoove io Pure shine (1 channel) for easy operation of the awning. Equipped with additional memory function "my" for your favourite position of the extended awning.
  • Radio control wallset Smoove A/M io Pure shine (1channel) The sensitive wallset Smoove A/M io Pure shine (1-Kanal) for easy control of the awning. Equipped with additional memory function "my" for your favourite position of the extended awning as well as an auto/manual function.

With the markilux hand-held transmitters and the appropriate radio motor, your awning can be conveniently controlled at the push of a button. The ergonomic markilux awning remote controls are available to match our designer awnings in an elegant look and they are available in many versions: on the one hand as a 1-channel- and 5-channel version in 433 MHz technology, on the other hand in a 5-channel version in 868 MHz technology. The features of the different variants at a glance:

433 MHz radio controls

  • markilux hand-held remote control (1 channel) The hand-held remote control Somfy Situo 1 RTS Pure allows you to operate your awning comfortably at the touch of a button. The attractive shape and ergonomic design characterise this elegant and easily operated hand-held remote control.
  • markilux hand-held remote control (5 channel) The hand-held remote control Somfy Situo 5 RTS Pure (5channels) allows you to operate your awning and selected special equipment comfortably at the touch of a button. The attractive shape and ergonomic design characterise this elegant and easily operated hand-held remote control.

868 MHz radio controls

  • markilux hand-held remote control io-1 designcontrol (1 channel) The 1-channel hand-held remote control markilux io-1 designcontrol allows you to operate your awning , a radiant heater or lighting with 868 MHz-technolgy. With additional memory function for programming your favorite position.
  • markilux hand-held remote control io-5 designcontrol (5 channels) Universalremote control with integrated auto / manual function for all channels. Light and heat radio receivers with dimming function can be conveniently operated using the scroll wheel. With additional memory function for programming your favorite position.

A rain sensor ensures that your awning is automatically retracted when it rains. The rain sensor can be fixed directly to a wall by means of a bracket or alternatively attached to e.g. the post of the awning itself. The power supply is ensured by sensor and power cables. Both are quick and easy to install.

In addition to being easy to install, the sensor is impervious to both soiling and oxidisation by virtue of a foil that protects the contacts. If the temperature outside drops, the sensor regulates itself automatically by means of an integrated heater. Product features of the markilux rain sensor:

  • Measures rain and snow

  • Integrated, self-regulating heating

  • Simple installation of the sensor and power supply cable

  • UV-stable housing and cable

  • Dirt-resistant

  • Quick and easy installation possible thanks to fixture bracket

Thanks to the light and wind sensor you can just lean back and watch how your markilux reacts: If the weather changes, the automatic sensor triggers the right reaction. Your markilux will extend automatically as soon as the sun appears or retract into its cassette - of its own accord - if the wind picks up significantly.

Light and wind sensors are particularly practical, if you wish to protect indoor furnishings from fading or to prevent the interior of the house heating up excessively. This sensor is available in the following versions:

Light and wind sensor Soliris Uno (RTS) Depending on the prevailing conditions with regard to the wind and sun one awning will be extended or retracted. The wind threshold value is simply preset on the device. There is a sliding switch which can quite simply deactivate the sun sensor. The awning can then be controlled manually. This version of the sun and wind monitor is suitable for individual awnings.

Light and wind sensor Soliris IB (RTS) With this extended version of the awning sensor, you can equip several awnings at the same time, which can be retracted or extended depending on the weather. The Soliris IB sun and wind sensor is therefore suitable for group controls. A Centralis Uno IB individual motor control unit is also required for each drive. All individual control devices are connected with a control line (IB bus).

Radio controls 433 MHz = RTS

  • Radio controlled light and wind sensor Soliris Sensor for RTS motors Depending on the prevailing wind and sun conditions the awnings are extended or retracted. The wind threshold value is simply preset on the device. The Soliris Sensor RTS transmits the signals by radio wave. Therefore no cabling is required between the sensor and the motor. The sun sensor can be manually activated or deactivated by means of a remote control.
  • Radio controlled light and wind sensor Soliris Sentor for RTS motors, with connection for rain sensor Depending on the prevailing wind and sun conditions the awnings are extended or retracted. The wind threshold value is simply preset on the device. In combination with a suitable rain sensor the awning will retract if it starts to rain. The Soliris Sensor RTS transmits the signals by radio wave. Therefore no cabling is required between the sensor and the motor. The sun sensor can be manually activated or deactivated by means of a remote control.
  • Radio controlled wind sensor Eolis Sensor RTS Keeps as constant eye on the wind speed: as soon as the individual preset value is exceeded, the sensor retracts the awning. Radio controlled operation makes wiring between the operating point and the motor drive unnecessary. Only a 230 V power supply cable is required.

io radio controlled wind sensor Eolis WireFree io The battery-powered radio controlled wind sensor Eolis WireFree io can be mounted directly at the façade without any annoying cables. The wind threshold value can be set individually at the sensor or via the radio façade control Easy Sun io.

You can order an optional sunlight sensor for your electric awning for automatic control depending on the amount of sunlight. This is available in two versions: the Sunis SunS ensor RTS in 433 MHz technology and the wireless light sensor with solar module in 868 MHz technology. Both can be flexibly mounted on any facade.

The markilux sunlight sensor gives awnings with a radio motor extension and retraction commands and does so without any wiring to the power supply. The power supply of the sunlight sensors is ensured by built-in solar cells.

Up to three sensors can be taught into a radio motor. However, one sunlight sensor can also control several electric awnings. This sensor is available in the following versions:

Radio controls 433 MHz – Radio controlled sun sensor Wirefree

  • Official name: Sunis WireFree RTS wireless sun sensor
