Last season, awning specialist markilux brought out a new pergola model, the “pergola style”. The model has an aesthetic, graceful design in a cubic look and effective, lighting technology that can be customised according to the customer's wishes. The awning was very well received in the market and set a new standard for all the manufacturer’s other models featuring lighting options.

Light has been a key design element in both architecture and the world of furnishings for years. And homeowners also like to use it in the garden to add a touch of atmosphere to paths, flowerbeds and seating areas. Awning manufacturer markilux picked up on this trend early on and integrated a wide range of lighting options into its models. A special example of this is the “pergola style”, which has been on the market since last year. It seems to have struck a chord with the times with its delicate, modern cubic design and the fact that its LED lighting system now offers the option of coloured light.

Christiane Berning, Head of the Marketing and Business Development Department, is delighted with the positive response to the new awning model from both trade customers and end consumers. “Light is simply a popular topic for the home and garden because it creates a wonderful atmosphere,” she explains. Patios or open spaces in the garden can be skilfully accentuated using the lighting technology integrated into the “pergola style”. This is ensured by app-controlled LED-Lines that can be placed in the lateral guide tracks, in the slender cover cassette and the slimline posts at the front of the awning. According to Ms Berning, uplights in their footplate covers also discreetly emphasise the delicate design of the solar protection system.

With these numerous options, end consumers can emphasise their own personal style. However, the lighting technology was particularly well received because you can switch between neutral and coloured light, the marketing manager goes on to explain. “With the ‘pergola style’, we now offer end consumers even more creative freedom to fulfil their desire to be able to express themselves individually when choosing a product,” says Ms Berning. From this year on, in response to the positive market feedback regarding the new awning, markilux has decided to equip the majority of its awning models with lighting technology that features the new lighting with coloured effect. 2,587 characters
