Convenient weather protection for the guests

“Weinwerk” in the Austrian Innviertel region has been fitted with modern awning systems from markilux

The “Christian” winery is located in Mehrnbach in Upper Austria. The winery also includes the event location “Weinwerk” with an adjoining fine dining restaurant. Due to the growing number of visitors to this relatively new company, owner Christian Pumberger had the outdoor terraces of the location fitted with awning systems from markilux a little over a year ago. Since then, guests have been able to enjoy wine and good food outdoors in almost any weather.

The relatively new winery “Christian” is in the Inn region at the heart of Upper Austria. Christian Pumberger and his cellarmaster Christian Größlbauer have been growing white wine there in the municipality of Mehrnbach since 2019. For the third year now, the winegrowers have been serving it in the restaurant of “Weinwerk”, an event location for weddings and corporate events. The business concept, which includes a show cellar and wine tours on a grand scale, proved to be very successful – a fact demonstrated by the steadily growing number of visitors. This is why owner Christian Pumberger decided to make the outdoor catering area of his modern business weatherproof with awnings from manufacturer markilux.

Sheltered space for guests, even outdoors

“The winery is expecting a growing number of visitors and the outdoor catering also has to be prepared for this,” explains Jan Kattenbeck, head of “markilux project”, a team responsible for the awning specialist’s contract business. “Weinwerk” offers plenty of space both inside and out. However, it was necessary to protect the two outdoor terraces with their 150 seats from both the sun and rain with generous awning systems. This meant that the open spaces could now accommodate the company’s event concept in an even better way for a considerable part of the year.

Awnings match the modern style of the location

The two terraces, measuring almost 290 square metres and providing a view of the vineyard, were fitted with two different markilux models by a local specialist dealer: four “pergola stretch” systems which can provide shade for particularly large areas as well as four “pergola classic” systems. These were given additional glare and wind protection with integrated vertical blinds. “Our products fit in well with the gastronomic concept and the high-quality, modern design of the building,” says Jan Kattenbeck. This and the safe operation of the solar protection systems were therefore also decisive factors for the owner of the winery in deciding in favour of markilux. 3,103 characters
